The Focus of the 2010 Wisconsin Grazing Conference:

Pastures, People, Planet, Profits

From February 18th to 20th, 2010, people from around the Midwest will gather in Wisconsin Rapids to attend the 18th annual Wisconsin Grazing Conference, where they will learn how better pasture management can result in both healthier profits and a healthier planet. The conference, organized by GrassWorks, Inc., is a key event for grass-based farmers or “graziers” of all species and at all levels. Topics range from “mob grazing” to pastured poultry to the health benefits of grass-fed meat, eggs and dairy products.

This year’s conference will be held at the Hotel Mead in Wisconsin Rapids and will feature over 25 sessions and 30 exhibitors. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear thought-provoking and inspiring speakers, enjoy delicious local meals and network with the best in graziers from around the region.

Two outstanding keynote speakers will be honored guests at the 2010 conference:

Jim VanDerPol, from Pastures A Plenty, has long been involved in the grazing movement and writes a regular column for Graze Magazine. He will speak on Thursday, February 18th, 2010 at 7:00 pm.

Woody Tasch, founder of the Slow Money Alliance, is a pioneer in merging investing and philanthropy.  He is the author of Inquiries into the Nature of Slow Money: Investing as if Food, Farms, and Fertility Mattered. He will speak on Saturday, February 20th at 4:00 pm.

Andrew Hager, leader and philosopher in the grazing movement and Certified Educator in Holistic Management, will tell conference attendees about "Progress, Pro-grass:  Strategies Toward a Future Farming Landscape". He will speak on Friday, February 19th, 2010 at 6:00 pm.

Woody Tasch, Chairman and President of the Slow Money Alliance, pioneered the integration

of asset management and philanthropic purpose in the 1990s as treasurer of the Jessie Smith

Noyes Foundation and founding chairman of the Community Development Venture Capital

Alliance. For ten years, through 2008, Tasch was chairman of Investor’s Circle, a network of

angel investors, family o-ces, and social purpose funds and foundations that has invested

$133 million in 200 early-stage sustainability-promoting ventures and venture funds, since

1992. Woody is the author of Inquiries into the Nature of Slow Money: Investing as if Food,

Farms, and Fertility Mattered (Chelsea Green).
